Delungra Memorial Bowling Club set for interior face lift
26th of Jun, 2019 12:36 pm

Delungra Memorial Bowling and Recreation Club is getting an interior face lift thanks to the Tackling Tough Times Together grant.

The not for profit organisation has a committee of local farmers who have been successful in obtaining a grant for $20,000 from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.

These funds will enable the club to train 10 volunteers and directors to hold their Responsible Services of Alcohol and Responsible Services of Gambling accreditation, paint the interior of the clubhouse, purchase more chairs and do some much needed repairs and maintenance to the facility, also relieving financial pressure off the club.

This adds to an earlier grant the Bowling Club received from the Drought Communities Program supported by the Australian Government and Inverell Shire Council, which is allowing the club to install solar power, a commercial dishwasher and exhaust system to the kitchen, and upgrade fire safety accreditation and security systems.

The board of directors are always looking for ways to improve the clubhouse and to continue to make it a welcoming place for members of the community to enjoy, which is now going to be much easier for the future thanks to the support of these grants.
