Plenty happening around the Inverell district to celebrate Australia Day

As Australia Day falls on Sunday this year, the Royal Hotel in Tingha will be kicking off celebrations early with Australia Day Eve celebrations.

Head out for a night of fun and karaoke at the Royal from 6.30pm on January 25. there will be prizes for the best dressed Aussie and best singer on the night.

The following day, on January 26 Australia Day celebrations will start in Tingha at the Sports and Recreation Club from 6.30pm.

Featuring Australia Day ambassador Donna Siccia, a presentation of awards, free barbecue and outdoor movie, the celebration should not be missed.

Ms Siccia is the co-founder and Board Director of Endometriosis Australia.

Bring your own seating and picnic blankets to enjoy the 2019 movie Aladdin on the big screen commencing on nightfall.

Meanwhile, in Delungra vintage vehicles, motorbikes, decorated children's bikes, horses and machinery are invited to take place in a town parade to start the day.

The parade will gather at 9am before a 9.30am start down the street. A morning tea will follow at 10am with a car boot sale. Everyone is encouraged to bring a vehicle loaded with produce to sell from the boot.

Official proceedings, including the announcement of this year's Australia Day award recipients, will begin at 11am.

Ashford Lions Club will hold a barbecue breakfast from 8am followed by an awards ceremony to recognise humble Ashford residents contributing in big ways to make the village even more special.

The Ashford pool will open from 10am until 6pm with free entry all day.

In Inverell Victoria Park will be a hive of activity from 7.30am as Inverell-Macintyre Lions jump on the barbecue to fry up a delicious gold-coin donation breakfast for all.

There will be free entertainment and free face painting on the day. At around 8.15am the Australia Day ambassador Donna will address the crowd before the award presentation and citizenship ceremony takes place.

Inverell's pool will also provide free entry all day from 10am until 6pm.

Lastly, Reflections Holiday Park will have a fun day for all between 9am and 6pm. Yabby races, a thong toss competition and live music from 4pm by Mackay's Joel Bear are just a few of the activities on offer.

Food will be available as well. All are welcome to head out.
